A battery business with an established history

Veken Technology was established in 1993 and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 1998. Its battery business dates to 2004 and now spans consumer batteries, small-power systems and sodium-ion applications. Across that history, Veken has developed the manufacturing activities and research facilities that support its more recent move into sodium-ion starter batteries.

Ningbo: cells, BMS and battery packs

Veken's Ningbo base includes Ningbo Veken Battery and Ningbo Veken New Energy Technology. It combines cell, BMS and battery-pack development and manufacturing, including cylindrical sodium-ion technology for starting applications. This integrated scope brings cell development, battery management and the electrical and mechanical design of a finished battery into the same manufacturing base.

Development, pilot work and testing

Veken's development facilities include materials and cell laboratories, battery research institutes and pilot lines. Its product-testing activities cover reliability, safety, electrical performance, life testing and material analysis. These facilities connect material evaluation, cell development, pilot work and product assessment within the manufacturer's broader development process, linking research activity with the practical demands of a battery system.

Different bases, different manufacturing roles

Veken's three-base structure covers different parts of the battery market. Ningbo develops small-power systems and cylindrical starting applications. Dongguan focuses on consumer lithium-ion batteries. Nanchang supports sodium-ion manufacturing and energy-storage applications, with two automated sodium-ion lines described in the 2026 interim report. Each base contributes a distinct manufacturing role within Veken's wider battery operations.

Sodium-ion milestones

Veken's timeline records sodium-ion production and the Ningbo cylindrical line in 2023, followed by motorcycle starter-power production in 2024. In its 2026 interim report, the company reported completing development of the E, HB and UB starter-power families and overseas-channel validation. These milestones trace its progress from production infrastructure to motorcycle starter products and a broader starting-power portfolio.
